Radical Reposts: Relationships and Their Sky Reps

While the Sun is still in Libra, it seems like a good time to revisit in our repost series the topics of relationships, the sign Libra and the planet Venus. Share the best parts with your significant other!

The Planet Venus

Many of these posts were already reprised in February  this year on Radical Reposts: The Planets – Venus. Take a ride on a love rocket to the Planet of Us! Guaranteed worth the ticket/click …

Relationships

“Mature” relationship, by the very use of the adjective mature involves making peace with Saturn. There is a good reason why Saturn is exalted—best placed—in the sign of Libra. We all want relationships that endure ...

While it’s also listed under The Planets – Venus, this article is worth the double billing. It’s Everything I’ve Learned about Relationship in Six Decades as a Venus Girl. While this article focuses on love on or after the Chiron Return, I think you'll find the insights are universal and timeless.

(06-Mar-13)
Your relationship with astrology is a long-term love affair. Like any long-term relationship, astrology needs to be nurtured and its place in your life is likely to change over time.

This seminal article covers my theory of how Chiron rules the portion of the zodiac from Virgo through Sagittarius. It addresses how good relationships, one of the keys to wholeness, are formed through progressive developmental steps: Virgo to Libra to Scorpio to Sag.

The Sign Libra

Moonwalk: Libra (04-Oct-2010)

We often learn about the soul of a sign when we explore it as a Moon placement. While this article covers a specific time the Moon was in Libra, I think you’ll find many insights into Libra worth balancing on your own inner scales. For those who think Libras are only dimpled sweethearts, let me share from the opening paragraph:

The opening image in this post is the epitome of calm and balance. But when Libra Moon is upset, s/he seems more to me like an angry Aries with a Gemini split personality. (The duality of the two Scales surely contributes to the potential for two Libras—one Up, one Down.) While temporarily “loony,” the Libra Moon possessed by anger dips high and low in a way that can feel frightening. Think of a pair old-fashioned scales jerking up and down wildly, no balance in sight. You might even find it hard to believe that Venus rules this normally sweet Moon sign when its native is temporarily enraged.

Perhaps a good explanation why love can be both heaven and hell at times?

Happy Birthday, Libras!

An Answered Prayer

A dear friend and I have gone to the same manicurist for some time. I was shocked when I phoned recently for an appointment to find out that “Ami” had left the salon where I saw her for years. My friend and I were brokenhearted to lose our connection with her.

The salon owner was eager to hook me up with another manicurist and not to lose me as a customer. Her lips were sealed for any information about Ami, and I was pretty certain she’d claim ignorance of her whereabouts. I didn’t even bother to ask, thinking it was probably impolite to be so obvious about the fact that I’m loyal to my manicurist, not so much to whichever salon she happens to work for. At my next appointment with someone else at the old salon, I heard another customer express her deep disappointment to lose Ami.

I probably should explain: I come from a family of hairdressers, and because of it, I have unusual standards about my relationships with providers of personal services. Changing hairdressers or manicurists is a very big deal for me, and they are part therapist as well as glamorizers to me. Losing those people in my life is tantamount to a divorce. It’s traumatic. (Read more on this topic in my article Bartenders, Beauticians and Baristas.) My reliance on these heroes to fulfill the needs of my Venus-driven astrology chart is a major bond of trust, and the time I spend with them represents some of my few hours of relaxation and letting go in my whirlwind life. They need have to have good energy, as they’re part of something much bigger in my life than a cut, color or pedicure. They put new life into me with along with a coat of nail polish or hair color, and it’s all about the love and vibes that go with it. (My hairdresser and I hug and say we love each other all the time.)

How could I ever find Ami? I didn’t figure I could stand in the middle of town and yell her name and hope she’d run out of one of the dozens of nail salons in our small city.  I assumed she was lost to us.

For some time, I’d been eyeing the nail salon next to our neighborhood Rubio’s restaurant where my husband and I often have dinner or get take-out. That was even before losing Ami. In fact I wondered, given I was so happy with Ami, why this salon seemed to have some sort of curious draw to me. Once I heard about her disappearance, I figured it’d be a good place to explore for someone new since it was “vibing” at me. It’s near home and I eat and shop in the vicinity often.

The other night, I was going to pick up food at Rubio’s. I looked at the salon, peeked in the window and thought to myself that I should check their prices when I came back out from buying dinner.

By then, I was in my exhaustion mode, how I get by early evening after a hard day—so tired, I couldn’t even remember where I parked, much less continue to think about manicures. Standing between the salon and the restaurant, I was trying to get my bearings about my car. Suddenly I realized someone was calling out my name with great enthusiasm. I turned around …

… and it was Ami! I was so excited to see her. We hugged like long lost relatives, and I told her I’d been so sad, thinking I’d lost her forever. The salon that kept standing out in my mind in yellow highlighter is her new place of work.

If you read my blogs often, you probably won’t be surprised that this happened to me … because these things happen to me a lot. It’s because I’m intuitive, and that “thing” that was drawing me to the new nail salon was a message from Spirit. If Ami hadn’t found me first, surely, I’d have followed that pull and found her myself, sooner or later.

This story proves that Spirit is whispering messages to us all the time. It was even hinting at the answer to my prayer before I even knew I was going to have a need. Intuition is Spirit Within. The universe answers our prayers all the time, but sometimes we just aren’t listening or picking up the signals.

So here’s a prayer I wrote for sensory tune-ups:

Eternal Light, help me see your hints, hear your clues and recognize your pulls toward fulfillment of my needs and desires. Remind me often that all prayers are answered, maybe not in the way I expect—and at other times, in ways much bigger and better than I ever imagined. Lead me on the exciting journey of seeing my ability to manifest what I need in the material world. Thank you for the joy of discovering my own creative power.

May you find what you lose and love what you find!

Planetary Fishing: Venus

 © 2013 by Joyce Mason
All Rights Reserved

Today it’s time to fish for beauty. We’ll be exploring Venus, the planet of relating, everything lovely and the craving for peace and justice. If you’re coming in during the middle of the movie, so to speak, and wonder what we’re up to, here’s the background about our May Planetary Fishing Trip.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the excursion.

Venus Fishing Instructions

1.   With Venus I’d like to start with a simple but deep question: What is your relationship to beauty? Some people aren’t that big on fashion, art or ambience. Others can almost become ill when their surroundings aren’t lovely and harmonious. Where are you on this continuum?

2.   Now let’s get a line on the Goddess Venus. Tap into your search engine and explore Venus mythology. What do you learn that stands out to you? That you’d like to explore deeper when you’ve got more time?

3.   The beauty aspects of Venus are very visual, so while you’re searching for her online, check out Venus images. What image or images of Venus appeal to you most? Why?

4.   About your Venus and its sign:

a.   Does your Venus sign, in your opinion, make the realm of Venus easy to navigate or is it more challenging? Why?
b.   Which aspect of Venus is “your thing?” There are several major ones to choose from: relationships, beauty and the trio of peace, justice and fairness.
c.    What’s the element of your Venus? (Earth, Air, Fire or Water) Is it simple or challenging to do Venusian things with this element?
d.   How does your Venus blend with the planets we’ve explored so far?
e.   How many planets make a major aspect to your Venus? [1]
f.    How many of the planets are in close aspect, within 3 degrees or less?
g.   Do these aspects make “doing Venus things” easier or more challenging?

5.   What were your earliest experiences of the facet of Venus you chose in 4b?

Extra Experience: Whatever your favorite Venus topic was in 4b, choose a different one for this experience. Here are your choices:

Relationships – Remember your very first, foundational relationship. What were the most important things you learned?

Beauty—Two choices: Explore when you feel beautiful and how feeling beautiful makes you feel. Or explore some artwork today and write about its emotional impact on you.

Peace/Justice/Fairness—Which if these three words is most important to you? Recall an incident where one of these words was the “star” and briefly tell about it.

Hope to see you on the pier next week when we fish for Mars and Jupiter.
